Course Format: Group - Unaccompanied (60 minutes)
The M.int Sprouts course is designed to be taken before or alongside instrumental lessons to form an unrivalled, balanced, and comprehensive music education.
Each Sprouts class will be divided into two halves. In the first 30 minutes, students will be taught musicianship fundamentals inspired by the Kodály Method of musical education, a world-renowned approach that specialises in child-friendly game-based learning. Sprouts will develop the ability to: identify, differentiate and vocalise a range of dynamics, pitches, and tempos, sing individually with understanding at pitch, play and move to a beat, clap back simple rhythms, and recognise rhythms of known songs and rhymes.
In the latter 30 minutes of the class, students will be introduced to orchestral instruments through Peter and the Wolf, a child-friendly symphonic folk tale written by Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev. In addition to orchestral instruments, students will also learn about the piano, and the voice, an instrument we are all born with. Throughout the course, students will also learn basic theory through games, including note values, rests, dynamics, tempo, treble and bass clef, and basic letter names.
