In M.int Seedlings, students will be taught musicianship fundamentals inspired by the Kodály Method of musical education, a world-renowned approach that specialises in child-friendly game-based learning. The course is designed to precede, and ultimately be taken alongside instrumental lessons to form an unrivalled, balanced, and comprehensive musical education. Through this method Seedlings will continue to build on the key musical skills of pulse, pitch, rhythm, musical memory and inner hearing.
Throughout the course Seedlings will use playground songs, rhymes and rhythmic movements, to unconsciously deepen their musical understanding. Seedlings will develop the ability to: differentiate between dynamics and tempos; identify and vocalise high and low pitches; sing individually at pitch; and show a steady beat through movement and on handheld percussion instruments.
The Kodály method will not only help Seedlings with music, but research has shown it also improves numerical, linguistic, and social skills!
