M.int Music Exploration Course (for ages 1.5-2.5)
Suitable for: ages 1.5-2.5
Term: Fall 2024 – August to December (15 weeks)
Instructor: Candy
Course Format: Group - Accompanied (45 minutes)
In M.int Seeds, students will take their first important steps into the world of sound and music and begin their life-long enjoyment of learning music. The course is designed to precede instrumental lessons and form an unrivalled, balanced, and comprehensive musical education. Both the child and accompanying-adult will be supported in developing a meaningful relationship with the key musical features of pulse, pitch, dynamics, timbre and rhythm in a safe and collaborative environment.
Students will engage in Kodály-inspired singing and movement activities that will develop the child’s emerging motor and coordination skills, exploring a different adventure theme each week – from the jungle to the sea, the sky and beyond! Using playground songs and rhymes, students will explore the body, voice and handheld instruments, whilst unconsciously discovering how sound materials can be transformed through their own actions. Furthermore, by experiencing the parallels between music and mood, students will begin to form their own musical identities as they are allowed to experiment with the expressive possibilities of music.
The Kodály Method of musical education will not only help Seeds with music, but research has shown it also improves numerical, linguistic, and social skills!
